Man beaten, robbed on campus

VCU police reported a robbery on the core campus area at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24. The victim was beaten then robbed in the 700 block of West Cary street.

The victim was in the south alley of West Cary Street when the crime took place. The suspect allegedly approached the victim and punched him repeatedly in the face. The victim said the suspect emptied the victim’s pockets, stealing $150.

The suspect is described as a black male of approximately 5-foot-10 and between 170-180 pounds. The suspect was also described as bald and muscular. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans when fleeing the scene of the crime westbound toward Linden Street, according to the VCU alert message.

Student received email messages about the robbery just after 11:35 p.m. As of press time, the suspect was not yet apprehended.

Police patrols in the area increased after the robbery.The Richmond Police Department is handling the investigation. Conditions exist that may pose a continuing threat to students and community members, according to the alert.
