This week, Cabell Branch Library is packed with students cramming in study time before final exams. Along with the library, some restaurants and local businesses are staying open later to accommodate busy students’ needs.

Local pizza places such as Extreme Pizza located on Broad Street and Piccola Italy on Main Street are helping students fulfill their late-night cravings while they study. Extreme Pizza stays open until 3 a.m. and Piccola is open until midnight during the week.

Students anxious to ace their exams will crowd the library and these restaurants.

“If there are some nervous eaters during final exams, these places will probably be the busiest during this time of the semester,” VCU junior Betsy Rosnick said.

The 3rd Street Diner located on East Main Street is open 24 hours. Its proximity to campus offers students a way to take advantage of the all-night menu.

“Some of the restaurants are pretty close to campus so it’s very helpful when I’m in the library for extensive amounts of time,” VCU senior George Sullivan said. “I like 3rd Street Diner just because I love eating breakfast at any time of the day.”

Some students would rather save their money and grab a bite to eat earlier in the evening before cracking open the books.

“A lot of students will be coming out and it’s nice that these places are staying open later,” VCU freshman Owen Payne said. “But I only eat at places that accept meal swipes or dining dollars.”

Late-night craving or not, these restaurants will be open into the late hours of the night to help fuel the brains of students while they hit the books.
