The Richmond Times-Dispatch endorsed Republican Sen. John McCain for president on Sunday, praising his experience in foreign policy and his views on the economy and health care.
The newspaper said the Arizona senator “is the right man for our perilous times.”
“Experience – particularly in international and military affairs – is a significant issue at the top of the tickets,” the editorial said. “National security ranks as the most important responsibility of any American president. And by this measure, John McCain is the clear and unambiguous choice in 2008.”
The newspaper also said McCain’s domestic policy views are preferable to those of Democrat Barack Obama, saying the Illinois senator would rely too much on government solutions.
