Fourteen mass communication students spent two weeks reporting in China and found new perspectives after interacting personally with Chinese students of Fudan University.
VCU has a formal partnership with Fudan University in Shanghai, China, and Fudan served as the base for the students’ two-week stay. Each VCU student was paired with a Fudan student, who assisted with tasks, such as translating.
For many of the 14 students, the cultural experience of interacting with their Fudan partner was not only a highlight, but life-changing.
Jason Ray is a junior mass communications major.
“The best part of the trip to Shanghai would have to be the interaction with the locals, especially our student partners at Fudan University,” Ray said.
